Where to Kayak


You don’t have to leave Anchorage to enjoy being on the water. There are several options to choose from weather you want s relaxing calm lake or a bit more practice on a creek! Check out our recommendations below.


Westchester Lagoon

A very popular area located in Downtown Anchorage, it is just a 15 minute walk. The Tony Knowles Coastal Trail, grassy knolls, and a paved walkway surround it. Spend a relaxing day paddling around the lagoon, take in the breathtaking views of the mountains, and keep your eyes out for wildlife!


Campbell Creek

If you’re looking for a little more adventure check out Campbell creek, which flows through the center of Anchorage. The water is shallow, but it can move quickly. The creek offers some obstacles, like narrow sections, tight turns, sweepers and overhanging trees.

  • Campbell Creek Park to Old Seward Hwy: 1.8 miles
  • Old seward to Campbell Lake: 4.2 miles

Goose Lake

Located in central Anchorage, Goose Lake is a popular swimming spot. It has a beach, 3 miles of paved trail surrounding the lake, a play area for kids, and a grassy area.


Little Campbell Lake

If your looking for a quite place to paddle check out Little Campbell Lake, which is located in Kincaid park. It is surrounded by forest lined trails.
